Peterson’s 2026 Pipe of the Year revives the 493 Squat “Cad” Bulldog, a shape the Dublin firm has been cutting since 1896. Broad and low in the bowl with a stout diamond shank and a tapered P-Lip stem, it is Bulldog shaping at its most robust — a pipe with real presence that still sits neatly in the hand.

The Heritage finish presents the shape in smooth briar under Peterson’s deep, contrast-stained treatment, letting the grain read through a dark, aged-looking surface. A bright sterling silver band finishes the shank, and the P-Lip mouthpiece supplies the marque’s characteristically dry, comfortable smoke. One of five finishes in this limited annual release, and the one for those who prefer a polished, classic look.
