Full and rounded, the egg-shaped bowl gives this Vauen 175th Anniversary pipe the most generous presence in the set — the heaviest and tallest of the six, with a deep chamber set over a relaxed, easy bend. Smooth reddish-orange briar sweeps cleanly around the bowl, the grain wrapping the rounded form without interruption.
Vauen’s anniversary signatures are all here. A sterling silver band rings the shank with an engraved decorative motif, and the crossed-pipes emblem — the maker’s mark since 1848 in Nuremberg — is inlaid in silver on the saddle stem. The briar is the house’s top PLS grade, finished entirely by hand to mark 175 years.
With the deepest chamber in the set, it is built for a long, unhurried bowl, kept cool and dry by the 9mm activated-carbon filter. A substantial, satisfying shape for a smoker who likes a pipe with weight and a full draw.
