Vauen 175th Anniversary Smooth (9mm) Pipe 3

Two crisp accent rings carved near the base set this one apart — a Dublin-leaning bowl whose gently flaring walls rise from a banded heel to a wide, open rim. Smooth reddish-orange briar carries the shape, and at just an ounce and a half it is the lightest pipe in the Vauen 175th Anniversary set, with a notably broad stance for its weight.

This is anniversary briar through and through. The sterling silver shank band wears an engraved decorative motif, and the crossed-pipes emblem — the mark Vauen has used from its 1848 Nuremberg beginnings — is inlaid in silver on the mouthpiece. The bowl is hand-finished from Vauen’s top PLS grade to mark 175 years of the house.

The flaring Dublin form shows off grain across a generous surface, while the carved rings give the eye a clean line to follow toward the bend. A 9mm activated-carbon filter keeps the smoke cool and dry. Light, elegant, and a little unexpected — a fine choice for a collector who appreciates a sculpted profile.
