Vauen 175th Anniversary Smooth (9mm) Pipe 5

Upright and elegant, this bent billiard is the most classically proportioned pipe in the Vauen 175th Anniversary set — a tall, straight-walled bowl rising over a graceful full bend, and the longest of the six at just under five and three-quarter inches. The smooth briar shows a warm reddish-orange stain with clean grain running the length of the bowl and shank.

The anniversary detailing is understated and precise. A sterling silver band encircles the shank with an engraved decorative motif, and Vauen’s crossed-pipes emblem — used since the firm’s founding in Nuremberg in 1848 — is inlaid in silver on the stem. The bowl is hand-finished from top PLS-grade briar in honor of 175 years.

Lighter than its length suggests at around 1.9 ounces, it balances easily in the hand or the teeth, and the 9mm activated-carbon filter keeps the smoke cool. The bent billiard is the shape most smokers picture first — and this is a refined, heritage-grade example of it.
